Privacy Policy

  1. Privacy Policy and Consent to the use of data

We take the protection of your personal data very seriously. We treat your personal data confidentially and in accordance with the statutory data protection regulations and this Privacy Policy.

This Privacy Policy applies to our mobile apps for iPhone and Android (hereafter referred to as “App”). It explains the method, purpose and scope of data collected in the context of using the app.

We point out that data transfer on the internet might have security risks. A complete protection of data against unauthorised access by third parties is not possible.

The following declaration informs you which personal and general data we collect and how we process and use them.

This data is anonymous and does not allow any conclusions to be drawn about your person. This information is only used for statistical purposes. As an individual user, you will remain anonymous.

The collection of further personal data by this app will only take place if we are legally entitled to do so or if you have expressly consented to the collection of data in question.

  1. Analysis tools

When you access our app, your activities can be statistically evaluated by using certain analysis tools and can be used for market research purposes or to improve our service.

Firebase

Firebase is a real-time database. It can be used to embed real-time information. User data are transmitted to Firebase in anonymised form. Firebase belongs to Google and is based in San Francisco (CA), USA. You can find Firebase’s privacy policy at https://www.firebase.com/terms/privacy-policy.html.

General analysis with Google Analytics and supplementary services

In order to be able to comprehensively optimise our offers beyond these analyses, we use the web analysis service Google Analytics, which uses cookies to scan usage both in real time and over the long term. The data is generally transferred to US servers and stored there; however, because we activated IP anonymisation, Google must first shorten your IP address in EU and EEA countries (only in the event of technical failures in Europe, for example, is it possible that the IP address will only be shortened in the USA). You can object to the described data collection and processing in apps by deactivating them in the settings (on Android and iOS directly in the app menu under Privacy).

  1. Access rights of the app

In order to provide our services via the app, we require the access rights listed below that allow us to access certain features of your device.

6.1. Location

The app accesses your exact GPS location. The GPS data is required to display your location on the map and for calculating distances. In case this exact data is not available, the application will access the approximate, network-based location.

6.2. Photos, media, files

The app requires access rights to change or delete contents on your SD card. This right is required to download app photos and to upload review and basic entry photos. The protected memory has to be checked to see if a file is saved on the SD card or on the phone’s internal memory.

6.3. Camera

The access right to your device’s camera allows you to upload a photo for the review feature or when suggesting a basic entry. Additionally, you can scan QR codes with your camera, which will give you instant access to the respective content.

6.4. Wi-Fi information

The Wi-Fi connection is retrieved to access the app via Wi-Fi.

6.5. Miscellaneous

In addition, the app requires access to the internet in order to download app content from the backend so that you can access the app from your mobile device.
The app has to be able to identify whether your device is on standby to send push notifications.

  1. Data storage

GPS data is stored in the app’s cache until it is replaced by an updated location. This location data is not personalised and does not allow any conclusions about persons or devices. Camera photos from the device will only be processed or sent by e-mail in the context of the review feature. The push ID of the respective app installation is saved by default. This data is anonymised and does not allow any conclusions about persons or devices. All data is saved until the app is deleted.

  1. Links

You will find links to other websites in our app, such as to partners, tourism websites and to newspapers or magazines. While we aim to only provide links to websites that share our high standards and our respect for privacy, we are not responsible for the content and security of those other websites or their privacy policies. Therefore, we cannot assume any responsibility for the subsequent protection of the data you provide after leaving our app. In any case, you should always be thorough and carefully read the privacy policy of the website in question.

  1. Encoding

This app uses SSL encoding for security reasons and to protect the transfer of confidential content, such as requests sent to us as app operators. This encoding prevents the data transferred by you from being read by unauthorised third parties.

  1. Right of information

According to the Federal Data Protection Act, our users have the right to receive information about their stored data, as well as a right to correct, block or delete data.

We take protecting your data very seriously. In order to ensure that personal data is not passed on to third parties, please send your request by e-mail or post with a clear identification of your person to the Responsible Body mentioned in point 2.

  1. Right of appeal to the regulatory authority in charge

We would like to point out that you have the right of complaint with the regulatory authority in charge in the event of data protection violations. The regulatory authority in charge for questions of data protection law is usually the state data protection officer of the federal state in which your company has its headquarters. You can find a list of data protection officers and their contact information via the following link: https://www.bfdi.bund.de/DE/Infothek/Anschriften_Links/anschriften_links-node.html.

  1. Objecting to advertising e-mails

We hereby object to using the data published within the scope of the legal notice to send unsolicited advertising and information material. The operators of the app expressly reserve the right to take legal action in the event of unsolicited sending of advertising information, such as spam e-mails.

  1. Amendments of this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend this Privacy Policy at any time in compliance with legal requirements.
