Two spacious, refined rooms preserve the memory of the Ughi and Ambrogi families, whose histories are woven into that of Florence and Villa Camporella.
Room 109
Ughi Family
At the heart of the residence lies Room 109, the most imposing, majestic and aristocratic room in all of Fantastic Garden. This genuine royal suite is entirely dedicated to celebrating the Ughi, one of Florence's oldest and most storied families.
Proud Ghibellines, the family's earliest members left their mark forever on Tuscany's religious and civic history. They contributed to the construction of the Church of Santa Maria degli Ughi, held suburban estates in the historic area of Montughi and possessed the exclusive right of advocacy for the Archbishop of Florence.
Soldiers and statesmen, the Ughi provided city consuls as early as the 12th century, including Balduino, who ratified peace with Siena in 1176, and Ugo in 1186. Although Albertano was exiled in 1268 after the Guelph victory, the family rose again, introducing the distinguished craft of gold beating, known as Battiloro, to Florence and eventually receiving the noble title of Marquis. Keepers of an enduring legacy, the Ughi were the proud original owners of the imposing Torre Merlata in Camporella.
Crossing the threshold of Room 109 means entering a world of splendor and ceremony from another age. The room's monumental proportions immediately draw the eye to its spectacular coffered ceiling, a masterpiece of fine wood craftsmanship painted throughout with geometric and floral motifs in gold, cream and pale blue, and framed by an imposing heraldic frieze. The soaring walls are punctuated by frescoed pilasters with multicolored arabesques, lending the entire room a regal presence.
The sleeping area is a triumph of Baroque opulence: the magnificent double bed, with champagne-colored button-tufted leather and finely carved gilded frames, sits within an enormous arched alcove with a gilded backdrop that bathes the resting place in a warm, regal glow.
The suite's monumental space includes a private sitting area of exceptional grandeur. Majestic sofas and armchairs in pale leather, with gilded, hand-carved wooden details, stand on a sumptuous, expansive crimson carpet. Completing the dreamlike atmosphere are a period dining area with matching chairs and an imposing chandelier in artistic glass, whose delicate multicolored flower-shaped shades cast an enchanting, princely light.

Ambrogi Family
Junior Suite 201 is dedicated to the Ambrogi, an old Florentine family originally from the Val d'Elsa, connected to the city's civic life and remembered among the noble families with a residence on via de' Bardi. Historical sources indicate that, in the early 15th century, Villa Camporella belonged to Piero di Ambrogio Ambrogi, a leather merchant: a valuable testament to the bond between this family and the residence that now houses Fantastic Garden.
